Saltine Toffee - aka "Christmas Crack" Recipe!

No this is not a healthy recipe.
Yes this is an easy recipe.
Yes this is a delicious recipe.
No you will not be able to stop eating them.
Yes you will love them.
Yes you may love or hate me because you will eat all of the toffees.

Here is the... Saltine Toffee Recipe: AKA "Christmas Crack"
(You're welcome - thank me later)

All you need = 5 ingredients

40 saltine crackers
2 sticks of butter
1 cup light brown sugar
1 bag 10-12oz semisweet chocolate chips
3/4 cups chopped nuts (optional)

Melt the butter and brown sugar in a sauce pan for about 5 minutes.
Don't stir, just wait till it boils a little and looks like caramel. This is about half way through:

Spread out crackers on a cookie pan lined with cooking spray on tin foil, then pour the mixture on top of your crackers - slowly.. Then you can spread it out a little with a spatula to make sure all of the crackers are covered.

Pop these babies in the oven at 425 degrees for about 5 minutes. They will bubble and start to look golden brown.

Take them out for a sec and sprinkle the chocolate chips all over the top. Turn the oven off and pop the tray back in for 1-2 minutes until the chocolate starts to melt on top.

Take out the pan again, and spread the now soft chocolate all over the top evenly with a spatula.

After spreading out the chocolate, sprinkle the chopped nuts over the top of you would like to.
I used some toasted sugar pecans on mine.

Set in the fridge or freezer for an hour or longer, until chocolate is hard and dry.

Pull out and cut some with a knife for pretty pieces and break some as they come apart for unique bark like pieces. Also make sure to eat any of the pieces that are too small to add to your holiday party batch. Duh!

I hope you love these and enjoy them as much as I do!!!

A couple things I want to try next time = place the crackers top salt side down to get more of the salty taste, and I also want to try making some with peanut butter mixed in to the chocolate! Yum!

This is going to be great to enjoy for the Holidays!!

Have you ever made any saltine toffee?
Any other fun tips if you have?

Have a wonderful holiday with your loved ones!
