Saltine Toffee - aka "Christmas Crack" Recipe!

No this is not a healthy recipe.
Yes this is an easy recipe.
Yes this is a delicious recipe.
No you will not be able to stop eating them.
Yes you will love them.
Yes you may love or hate me because you will eat all of the toffees.

Here is the... Saltine Toffee Recipe: AKA "Christmas Crack"
(You're welcome - thank me later)

All you need = 5 ingredients

40 saltine crackers
2 sticks of butter
1 cup light brown sugar
1 bag 10-12oz semisweet chocolate chips
3/4 cups chopped nuts (optional)

Melt the butter and brown sugar in a sauce pan for about 5 minutes.
Don't stir, just wait till it boils a little and looks like caramel. This is about half way through:

Spread out crackers on a cookie pan lined with cooking spray on tin foil, then pour the mixture on top of your crackers - slowly.. Then you can spread it out a little with a spatula to make sure all of the crackers are covered.

Pop these babies in the oven at 425 degrees for about 5 minutes. They will bubble and start to look golden brown.

Take them out for a sec and sprinkle the chocolate chips all over the top. Turn the oven off and pop the tray back in for 1-2 minutes until the chocolate starts to melt on top.

Take out the pan again, and spread the now soft chocolate all over the top evenly with a spatula.

After spreading out the chocolate, sprinkle the chopped nuts over the top of you would like to.
I used some toasted sugar pecans on mine.

Set in the fridge or freezer for an hour or longer, until chocolate is hard and dry.

Pull out and cut some with a knife for pretty pieces and break some as they come apart for unique bark like pieces. Also make sure to eat any of the pieces that are too small to add to your holiday party batch. Duh!

I hope you love these and enjoy them as much as I do!!!

A couple things I want to try next time = place the crackers top salt side down to get more of the salty taste, and I also want to try making some with peanut butter mixed in to the chocolate! Yum!

This is going to be great to enjoy for the Holidays!!

Have you ever made any saltine toffee?
Any other fun tips if you have?

Have a wonderful holiday with your loved ones!

The Short Hair Do!

The Short Hair Do!

Tired but I felt like blogging tonite, so let's talk about the new short hair do!
I have been seeing it a lot. I always want to go shorter and blonder and I love to
see how everyone else is styling it too, so I wanted to make a collage and talk
about some of the things I like doing with it or what products I have used,
and see if anyone has tips on what works for them!

So many celebs here with the new short - bob - wavy - crop - bronde - ombre - bayalage haircut!
I don't know what to call it. It's not like "The Rachel".. so I am not sure if they are calling it anything in particular. I am in the middle LOL - but I found some of these online - Olivia Munn, Brooke Burke, Keltie Knight, Guiliana Rancic, Courtney Kerr, Kaley Cuoco, Ali Fedotowski, & Mandy Moore! I know Jessica Simpson and Lauren Conrad just chopped their hair too, to name some more.

A few of my girlfriends have taken the plunge too - I think we all love our new hair! It feels sassy and light and a little bit grown up and free. Mine got super thin from the chemotherapy I had earlier this year for my autoimmune disease. I didn't know how to style it as it started growing back a little, so I just chopped it! I didn't even plan on doing it. I decided that day when I was on my way to my hair appointment that I needed a change. I am still sick, but I was and still am hoping it would signify a wiser, happier, me - in a positive new life where I really appreciate everything around me and I am not weighed down by all of life's indifferences.

I am not super good at styling the do, but these are some of the things I like so far below - A lot of products you can find at or - Nordstrom.Com and - I like mostly because I have prime shipping!

I wrote a post on a good Chi Flat Iron deal here. I like to straighten with a flat iron, but it doesn't curl well for me or make waves. I think it is probably the most damaging for my hair, but it keeps the most days in a row and is pretty easy and quick.

I have had an older Paul Mitchell Flat Iron forever that I love. This one is very similar - I think it is the newer version of the one I have:

I have a Hot Tools Curling Wand like this. It seems to work better for me to hold a curl. It is the kind you hold over your head upside down and wrap the hair around with your fingers, without using a clasp. (Truth - I also have a cheap Revlon curling iron and an older Hot Tools curling iron - both with clasps, that I use sometimes too!)

For a detangler/ leave-in conditioner, I use It's a 10 spray. I love this stuff.

Also, fave conditioner is by Enjoy. I don't really have a fav shampoo, but I do use the Clear brand from - I don't think it is great for my hair, but it smells AMAZING. Especially if I don't use any heat on my hair.

I have tons of different kinds of Dry Shampoos, don't have a fav, but this one by Dove smells good and doesn't weigh down or feel sticky in my hair:

I like this styling spray you put on before and after using heat products. It smells really good too. It is by Bumble & Bumble.

I don't have this curling iron, it looks so cool!! Does anyone have it? It is by Dry Bar. It is super pricey though!

P.S. Top Secret! This is one of my FAV products ever... for temporary root cover up. Shh!!

Do you have any fav products for styling short hair?
Any tips?

I don't really have a favorite hair dryer, hair spray or shine.. and I have tried the sea salts and I don't like how salts or mousses really feel in my hair.

Braun No Touch + Forehead Thermometer

I got this cool Braun No Touch + Forehead Thermometer to try today and it was quick and easy to use right away, so I wanted to review it here on the blog for you ASAP. I have been down and not well again but when I can, I like to get back on the blog to try to do something normal and fun. Trying to stay as positive as possible.

Box came like this:

You simply remove the cap, press power, position between your eyebrows and hold on your forehead or up to 2" away from it. A yellow light shows where you are aiming, you press the temp button (device requires and came with 2 AA batteries), and read the temp.

It was super easy to figure out. I like that it was fool proof to set up and use and came with batteries. It is better than putting something in your mouth or armpit to get your temp, and it can be used easily on someone you are taking care of. I tested it against a normal under the tongue thermometer, and this one came up a little high each time. Not sure which is more accurate. Also, when I used it 2" from the head it ran a higher temp - seemed more accurate placed ON the head. Also, I did an average of 3 times - because it was different each time  - 98.8, 98.9, and 99 were my readouts. I tried it on my Mom, getting 98.0, 98.3, and 98.4.

It is sold on Amazon for about $50: LINK HERE - and about the same price at Walgreens HERE and some other online drugstores. Make sure to check EBATES to see if you can get a good cash rebate back - some of the stores offer 5-10% cash back.

Note: I was given this product sample for being a Klout influencer. I am under no obligation nor do I receive additional benefits to receive the sample or talk about this company. Thanks Klout!

Have you tried this or would you consider purchasing one?

Pumpkin everything, short hair, nekter, sunset and couponing!

Just a quick blog post about pumpkin everything, short hair, nekter, sunset and couponing!

Tried the Pumpkin O's cereal from Trader Joes one day for breakfast, mixed with pumpkin Chobani yogurt, pumpkin spice whipped peanut butter from Target, blueberries, and coffee with sugar free pumpkin spice creamer! ALL the pumpkin things!!

Here is another pic of my short short hair cut! It is a little different and hard to style, but I am getting the hang of it, I think! My shirt is from Lucky Brand jeans, watch is Kors and I can't remember if the necklace is Forever 21 or Target. Jeans are Seven 7FAM. Ooh, and I love my new Otter Box for my iPhone 6! I have dropped and broken 2 phones already, so this is a must have.

I went to Nekter one day after an appointment, and I got a bowl - it was so good! There was a shaker at the cashier, so I dashed a few dashes on my bowl, thinking it was cinnamon. Nope it was Cayenne. Ew, a little spicy with my sweet! I felt stupid and I was in a hurry, so I didn't tell them, I just ate it. What a nerd. My purse is Louis Vuitton.

I have been witnessing some beautiful Godsent SoCal sunsets lately, and I just have to take pictures of every single one!

Here is some more fabulous couponing I have been doing! I got the stuff below at Ralphs and CVS - $56 worth of stuff for only $9! Make sure you sign up for those rewards programs guys!

Hope you enjoyed my little update!
What have you been up to and what do you have planned for November?

Target Fall/ Winter Fashion Must Haves!

I feel like shopping at home from my laptop today, but I am trying to control my urges to buy everything!! I scoured through the Fall & Winter clothing and I love so many things!
I am going to share with you my must haves and faves, and let you see what I bought today. If you spend $75 on clothing right now, you get 20% off and free shipping! Let me know what you think!

This is my favorite favorite item this fall from Target. Did I mention favorite? I first saw the same scarf or something like it on my friends Parlor Girl & Healthy Diva via the wide wide world of Instagram. It is called the oversized multicolor plaid scarf and is only $16.99. I see myself wearing this many many times in the near future, in tons of different ways. It is cozy and big and perfect.

I love this jacket, that I think Healthy Diva (Katie) also has - but it is out of stock online. I walked away from it in the store and now I can't find it! It is $34.99 and I love how it has the light denim and cloth sleeves that can go with anything from boots to sweats.

This cute hoodie is only $19.99, and I don't need it, but I want it. I will restrain myself because I have one too many cheap zip hoodies, but go into a store and feel it for yourself - it is super lightweight and cute!

These floral print jogger pants look so cute to lounge around in. They are on sale for only $12, so I had to get them.

I have been eyeing this Textured Henley sweatshirt for some time. I don't think it would look right on me, but I think it is so super cute. It is on sale for $15.

I am going to get this sweater for sure. It might look boring, but I love soft sweaters, and I think this is a good long one to wear with jeans or leggings and boots all fall long. It is by Mossimo, and it is only $24.99.

This one is super cute too, for only $17.99. I didn't get it, but it would be great for work with simple black pants and pumps.

And last but DEFINITELY not least.. I WILL be wearing this for Christmas. Don't get it twisted. This cat sweater dress is adorable and so me!!

My subtotal with the cat dress, grey tunic sweater, and floral sweat pants was not $75 so I couldn't get the 20% advertised discount - so I added a $9 Long & Lean Tank Top - I can never have enough of these in any and every color.  So, with that added, my total = $75.98 - 20% ($15.20) + FREE SHIPPING - 5% Target Red Card discount + tax - 2.5% rebate from Ebates = about $62!

I don't buy pants, jeans, shoes or jewelry from Target very often. I am mostly fond of their shirts, tops, sweaters, lounge wear, some accessories, and swimsuits.

Can't wait to get my new clothes in the mail!

Do you have any new clothing from Target that you purchased for the Fall season?
Tell me about it!

Pop Sugar Must Have Box October - Review & Coupon

Here is the Pop Sugar Must Have Box for October! I think there was an issue with everyone's shipping this month, so I got mine really late last week. If you don't already know, the box is $39.95 a month, but worth SO much more, because companies are getting their products out there for use and word of mouth. Coupon code for $5 off your 1st box: REFER5

Here are the items that were included, their retail price, and my short review:
  • Clear Magnetic Acrylic Frame $20-30 - The box this came in was super cute, but the item not super exciting to me? It would be a nice gift and was really heavy. I would never pay this much for a picture frame, but it is nice to have, and I put up a picture of my friends and I in it and am using it on my dresser.
  • Soy Chalkboard Candle $24 - This smells great and you can write on the outside. I love it, but I have a billion candles, and I thought it would be a perfect gift, so I am going to save it for Christmas.
  • Butter London Eye Pencil - $18 - This is something I would normally buy, because it is a grayish color - but I tried it, and it is soft and a little glittery. So far, I really actually like Julep and Butter eyeliners, even though I think they are both known more for nail polish.
  • Happy Socks on sale for $8.50 - These would be a cute stocking gift, but I don't have a lot of socks for when I stay at my Mom's, so I kept these for boot weather for myself :) They seem like a good quality and are cute too!
  • Nail Kit $8 - Cute for Halloween! I did put a couple of these on super quick before I went out yesterday, and I didn't realize that you had to cut them more than they did. I tried to use the pumpkin and the spider web, because I figured that the other colored ones could be used any time of year. You press them down and put water to the back then they kind of form to your nail. Pretty cool!
  • Dean & Deluca Pumpkin Maltballs. I love all things pumpkin, but these were not very chocolatey or pumpkin-y and for the famous name, I would have wanted them to be better.
  • Fancy Soap $10 - This soap smells amazing, but I am not a bar soap girl.. so I am saving it for a gift basket or guest room addition.
  • A bunch of coupons for online stores - I usually don't get much use from these. :/
All in all, the box was so-so to me. I would have liked another fashion item besides socks - like jewelry or a scarf or headband or something.. I think there is usually 1 bigger item and this one just had a lot of medium items I felt like. Will be looking forward to November! Hope you enjoyed the review!

Did you get the October Must Have box? What did you think?
Do you have any other monthly boxes you would recommend?

Smart Shopping!

Wanted to brag about some smart shopping I did last weekend! I spent $2 for $57 worth of the stuff below!! My goal was to go to the mall and not buy anything I didn't come in for. Success!! Here is how you do it:
  • Join the Victorias Secret Angel program to get email and mail deals. Between my mom and I (she doesn't buy their panties) - I usually can score a free pair of panties valued at $8-12 each month or every other month.
  • Same with Bath and Body Works - sign up to get email and mail offers, and they usually mail percentage discount cards every month or so - to get some dollars off. On the Facebook page this month, there was a printable coupon to get a free shea body lotion that retails about $12, for free with any purchase. So I bought a hand sanitizer for $1.50.
  • MAC Cosmetics has a super cool program called Back to Mac, in which you save your "empties" or empty makeup containers. When you have 6, you bring them in for recycling and get a free lipstick, that values around $16! So, I got 2.

Then, I stopped at Target and, with the use of coupons, got everything below for around $4!

It is a little time consuming sometimes to coupon or find deals, but I love saving money, so I think it is worth it!

Did you take advantage of any of the deals above?
Do you know of any other crazy program I should join for rewards and discounts?

Halloween Party & Costume

My friend's family threw a great Halloween party this year and I am fortunate that I was feeling well enough to attend with my friends. I tried to think of the cheapest costume I could throw together, and came up with Gemma Teller from Sons of Anarchy!

I wore a Sons of Anarchy t-shirt so you could tell who I was - not just a random biker chick! haha - and I wore a push up bra to get into character too. I bought a brown wig at a Halloween store, and some cheap princess highlights at a party store. My dad actually helped me superglue them into the wig! I kind of styled it to look more like Gemma (Katey Segal) and to hide the fact that it was a wig more.  I used tons of silver jewelry that I had at home, and borrowed the blingy belt from my best friend Kimmie. I wore a studded purse from Target, some tight jeans, and some old Nine West leather boots that I donated to Goodwill the day after the party since they hurt so bad lol. I got a fake cigarette at the party store, and got a cheap fork that my mom painted with red nail polish for me! If you don't watch SOA, this was Gemma's big crazy evil murder weapon at the end of last season. It is pretty disgusting, but I thought it would be a funny touch to the costume. I had some temporary tattoos already and picked one that looked similar to her tattoo on her chest, and I used makeup to try and replicate the scar she has down the middle of her chest.  Here it is! :

The party was themed Villian or Hero? - so I was a Villian. Here are some fun photos that were taken with my friends and I:

I hadn't dressed up or gone to a party since 2004 in college! So, it was fun to do that again.
Oh, here is a fun side by side of me and Gemma! I had fun not smiling and being in character all night! :P

Are you dressing up this year? Going to a party?
If you have kids, what are they going as?!

Be safe out there!

Chemo Care Package

My mom and I put together a Chemo Care Package last week to send to my Aunt Bobbie Sue. I love her so much and I know how terrible chemo is 1st hand, so I thought it would just make her feel loved and to know we are constantly thinking of her. I did a lot of searching for ideas, so I just wanted to post mine here so anyone else can get ideas for their own gift.

We got everything inside the box at Target, and the Hat Box at Michaels

Contents =
  • "Thinking of You" Greeting Card
  • Cozy soft gloves, beanie and scarf - to keep her warm at home or at treatment
  • Straws to make it easier to drink liquids lying down, and tissues for her purse or bag
  • Jesus Calling Devotional book
  • Hand Sanitizer (I went through tons of this)
  • Eos lip balm and lotion for dry skin and chapped lips,
  • Hard candies, butterscotch, tic tacs, salty cashews and dark chocolate for snacking and chemical mouth taste
  • Queasy Drops for nausea - these and Nauzene really helped me
I know it is the least we can do, but I hope it will help her feel some comfort in this terrible time. She is an amazing woman, and deserves to have as little pain and emotional trauma as possible. Please keep her in our prayers. Thank you.

Short short hair!

I chopped 5 inches off of my hair last weekend! After almost a year of turmoil and 3 months of chemo - my hair is very thin and different and just before I was going to my stylist to get my roots touched up, I started cruising Pinterest and looking at hair color I liked. I have always loved that beachy wavy look with browns blondes ombres and bayalage coloring. I noticed that everything I was pinning had something in common - the cuts were all pretty short! So, when I got to the salon, I asked my stylist what she thought, and before I knew it - my hair was 5" shorter! I felt so free!

I couldnt even look in the mirror until she was done! But I was happy when I did! Here is a side shot my stylist took:

Here is another photo that I liked:

Here is the day afterwards, trying to curl it myself:

x: Shirt Forever 21 | Necklace Nordstrom

Then the day after that, when my mom and I went to watch a taping of The Voice!..:

x: Shirt Nordstrom | Necklace Pop Sugar | Lipstick Mac Diva

I am excited to try new things with it! My ponytail is shorter, but I think my head will be held higher! It is the new Gretch!

Have you ever chopped your locks off in a whim?
Do you have any suggestions for styling short hair?

Love you!

Walmart Fall Beauty Box!

Got my Walmart beauty box last week - and my mom's cat Casper was excited too! Sign up to get your seasonal beauty box for Free - you just pay $5 shipping. So you get 4 boxes a year for $20. This was actually their 1st ever - for Fall 2014.. so I expect they may get even better as time goes on. From what I just saw online, there were 2 versions of the box. I am pretty happy with what I got.

1. Neutrogena foundation samples. I don't really care for this one, because all you get is a swipe to see what color you wear. There was also a $2 coupon though, so that is nice.

2. Nicki Minaj perfume sample. I used this and it actually smells pretty good! My mom said it was strong, but she is sensitive to smells and perfumes. Just be careful not to pour it out, it pours out fast.

3. Dark Cover Girl Nail Polish - love this! Perfect for Fall & Halloween. And, I actually just had a green CG color on, and it stayed for 2 weeks! That is crazy for me, so if this is that par of quality, I will definitely get some use out of it.

4. L'Oreal Glossy Balm chubby lipstick/ lip gloss stick. I love how this feels and stays, but the color I got was too dark and pink. I usually stick to lighter colors for my lips, but I can put a light pink lipstick on top of this and it will be nice to wear out.

5. L'Oreal Pore Vanisher cream sample. Small sample, I haven't tried it yet. I will probably try it, but this is not something I would buy for my routine. If they gave a small tube or jar I would be more likely to try it for an extended amount of time.

6. Dove Macadamia Nut Dry Oil Treatment. I love this sample because it is in a tube, I can use and save some, and it smells good too.

7. Dove Shampoo & Conditioner travel sizes. These are great to take on a trip!
8. Dove Clinical Strength Anti-Perspirant and Deodorant This sounds funny, but this is probably my favorite product in the box. Sorry I didn't take a picture of it outside the box, but it is a perfect size deodorant with a new shape, and is perfect for travel or just to use when your current one runs out.

I read that the other box version included a CoverGirl lipstick, same deodorant, Juicy perfume sample, packets of shampoo and conditioner to try once, olay cream trial size, and loreal cream trial size. Kind of different - but I feel they should have put 1 of the creams in the box I got since that box got 2? I think my box was better, but I do like their face cream and lipstick vs. the foundation and primer small packet samples. I will use most of this no problem!

Great box for only $5, considering there was a whole stick of deodorant, a full size lip "chubby stick", nail polish, and shampoo/conditioner travel set.

Did you get the Walmart box this month?
If not, will you be signing up?

Pumpkin Patch & Fall Fashion Fun!

Went to a pumpkin patch last week with my girlfriend Haley and her kids! It made me feel like it was finally Fall! We had some delicious pizza and PUMPKIN cheesecake, then checked out the pumpkin patch.

Jacey was too tired to ride the rides, but she is just always so funny :P

Love this family, they are so cute & sweet!

Haley - the beautiful girl who introduced me to temporary hair extensions!

Here is me - happy to be out with a great friend, enjoying the day :)

What do you like to do to kick off the fall season?
Will you carve a pumpkin this year?
